Chinese Spanish

At the beginning of the 20^th century some carpet factories in China, concentrated in producing some exceptional carpets using designs from the western repertoire. Among all European countries, Spain has perhaps the longest history in carpet manufacture, therefore it is obvious that most of these rugs bear ancient Spanish designs. The present design comes from a 14^th century Quenca carpet and it is one of the most elegant such Chinese pieces ever to appear in the market. It is almost certain that the original design belongs to an a much older textile design, probably made of silk and perhaps with silver threads as well. A superb carpet in every respect suitable for any decoration style, since it is a work of art in itself.
