Bidjar – Gerus

Bidjar – Gerus Bidjar – Gerus Bidjar – Gerus Bidjar – Gerus

Inhabited mainly by Kurds, the western provinces of Persia were far less affected by conquests and historic upheavals which afflicted the urbanized districts during the 18th century. As a result, the continuity of the Persian carpet tradition was least interrupted by external influences. At the same time, these regions were at the forefront of the revival of crafts which followed the return of peace and prosperity in the 19th century.

The natural camel hair background with the impressive medallion, flanked by equally charming spandrels and two green secondary medallions, makes this circa 1900 Bidjar, a very decorative and powerful element in any classically decorated room, although, for the daring kind, it can be a wonderful match to modern style a decoration as well.
