Kirman Kirman Kirman Kirman

Situated in the south-central region of Persia, Kirman has one of the longest and most glorious traditions in the history of workshop carpet manufacture. During the 19th century, following the revival of crafts in Persia, carpet production flourished, attracting famous designers and weavers and as a result, wonderful carpets were produced.

This very interesting “double saf” design formation is very unusual for a Kirman rug. Its discipline and accuracy in design execution, along with its intensively limited palette, succeed in passing on to us a sense of “seriousness” and an almost ecclesiastical character, rarely intended in the rug industry. Woven most probably in the1880’s, it could have been a special order of a prominent member of the local society.
