Kirman

Situated in the south-central region of Persia, Kirman has one of the longest and most glorious traditions in the history of workshop carpet manufacture. During the 19^th century, following the revival of crafts in Persia, carpet production flourished, attracting famous designers and weavers and as a result, wonderful carpets were produced.

This salmon ground Kirman is a typical example of the most popular type produced during the beginning of the 20^th century. This is due to the design style, which is more “westernized” than most oriental carpets produced during that period. It was made in a well-organized carpet factory, hence the cartouche on one end, revealing the name of the manufacturer.
