Kashan Kashan Kashan Kashan

The city of Kashan, located south of the Iranian capital Teheran, has been one of the most important carpet manufacturing areas since the Safavid dynasty, as early as the 16th century.

Some of the most famous historical carpets were created there, creating a legacy that is second to none.

This circa 1920 Kashan is a rather rare specimen, due to its very unusual very light mint-cream ground and its wonderful floral repetitive motifs, which are arranged in such a way, as to produce a sense of “movement” in the field of the carpet. The typical Kashan border bears a soft pink salmon ground, which compliments the overall appearance of this beautiful rug with a particularly silky wool pile. Extremely decorative for any decoration style.
