Shahsavan Kilim

The Shahsavan tribes living in the Transcaucasian and Persian Azerbaijan mountainous regions, have produced a limited number of kilims. This unusually large piece has been woven in one piece with special care in the drawing of the design and the arrangement of the different color sections contained in the 3-band formation. The simplicity of the geometric motifs which cover the two sides and the center, is a sign of ancient origin which has been passed on from one generation to the other.
