Adler

This rare south Caucasian antique rug from the Karabagh region has several different names i.e. Sunburst etc. The characteristic medallion is said to resemble an “Eagle”, hence one of its other names or “Adler” in German. The fact that it bears one and a half medallions is a sign of old age, which in this case is probably the third quarter of the 19^th century. All its colors are of the highest caliber, and its border motifs are most rare. Its beauty and rarity, as well as its superb condition make it a desirable collector’s item.
