Panderma Silk

Situated in the north western sea coast of Turkey, Panderma, although it is an ancient city, carpet wise, it is not older than the middle of the 19^th century. Nevertheless, the rugs made there, carry the long Turkish tradition, which justifies their very fine weave. Especially the few surviving silk pieces, are the most famous ones, bearing a fine quality of silk and an unusual palette and design repertoire.

The present finely knotted example, besides bearing a beautiful Safavid design, presents one exceptional color scheme with superb color shades, perfectly arranged in such a small space.

In excellent condition, with some of the darker colors corroded, a definite sign of good old age.
