“Queen of Sheba and her iconic visit to King Solomon, king of Israel and Judah”.

King Solomon was known for his wisdom, his wealth and his writings. He became ruler in approximately 967 B.C. and his kingdom extended from Euphrates River in the north and to Egypt in the south. His crowning achievement was the building of the Holy Temple in Jerusalem.

One of the most celebrated visits to Solomon was that of the Queen of Sheba, who came from southern Arabia. Historically, Arabia was a country rich in gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Solomon needed Sheba’s products and trade routes, whilst Sheba needed Solomon’s power and influence across the land.

This magnificent design which has been superbly executed by master craftsmen, is surrounded by minor borders with “fleur-de-lis” motifs, as well as by a major border depicting noble men, warriors, maidens, mermaids fruits and flowers amongst others.
