Belouch

Belouch tribes live in and out of the northeastern border separating Iran and Afghanistan. Their rugs are usually of small size due to their tribal nature and way of living. They also have a very distinct palette, consisting mainly of dark earth colors, dark blues and bright red-orange or rust. Their pile, warp and weft are always woolen with extremely few exceptions. Although very few such rugs belong to the end of the 19th century, still some special pieces are popular and collectable.
This particular piece belongs to a very special small group of Beloutch rugs, whose design and palette stands apart from any other type of rug of this area. A rare masterpiece in its own wright in terms of design theme and color balance.
