The city of Saruk in central Iran has become famous for its carpets during the end of the 19th century and especially during the first three decades of the 20th century, during a huge demand for Persian carpets from the West. These carpets with the curvilinear floral, all over motifs and the salmon to rust ground colors, became so popular, especially in the USA, that they acquired the nick name “American Saruks”.

This particular Saruk is a typical example of that period and still carries the charm and decorative power to complement or dominate any stylish room in a present household.
