Indo Saruk
During the last quarter of the 19th century, rightly named “Revival Period”, in both Persia and India some of the most brilliant carpets were made, mainly due to the demand of Europe and America and also the patronage of the Shahs that were in power. Based on older designs and modified by exceptional artists of that time, some carpets stood out and became extremely popular. One of the areas of Persia where manufacture of such carpets took place was Saruk in Persia. At the same time in India carpet manufacture was flourishing as well, due to their own long tradition, but also due to the guidance of the British, since India was one of their colonies.Our carpet is one of the most exceptional pieces of that period, designed with unique talent and soft colors of a very limited spectrum, so as to represent elegance of the highest degree.
