Fethiye Kilim

The most famous Fethiye kilims are the ones with a plain color woven part, separating the two highly decorated slit tapestry woven parts. These were also used as camel or horse covers in ceremonial parades. This area of the Turkish south coastal line, near Antalya, has no other significant textile product to offer us except flatweaves. Very few examples surviving, have such wonderful colors and design as the present one. A very rare and highly decorative flatweave.
