Raffia 27

These are rare vintage Raffia long panels are from Kuba Congo . They all have geometric or simple linear patterns in black, brown, ochre, or white colors on a natural white, beige, orange, brown, or black background. Both the canvas and the embroidered patterns are made exclusively from fibers from the very long leaves of the Raffia Palm, which grows mainly in this region. They are usually 3,00 – 4,00 m long, since the local women would wrap them around their waste several times as skirts during ceremonies.
